Maasai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya, East Africa.
The Reserve is located in the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland.
The annual Wildebeest Migration, is one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World” and also known as The World Cup of Wildlife; over two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle is one of the greatest natural spectacles.
The wildlife population here is amazing, with some prides of lion featured in television’s Big Cat Diaries. Our experienced local guides know the cats’ habits and will share their knowledge and experience with you as you explore the plains.
There are said to be around 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the reserve.
Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, you are most certain to see the big five – buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino – as well as cheetah, serval, hyena, bat-eared foxes, black-backed and side-striped jackals, hippo, crocodile, baboons, warthog, topi, eland, Thompson’s gazelle, Grant’s gazelle, impala, waterbuck, Oribi, reed-buck, giraffe and zebra.

5 Day Itinerary
All of the holidays we create are completely tailor-made to suit you. This sample itinerary is intended to give you a flavour of what we can do.
Your direct daytime flight from London to Nairobi leaves in mid-morning. You’ll arrive in the evening and will be met and transferred to your hotel, around 30 minutes from the airport, for an overnight stay.
Alternatively – we will transfer you to Wilson Airport for a flight at 10am to the Mara and on your arrival you will be transferred to rest at your chosen camp or lodge.
After a restful night, you’ll be transferred to start your safari with an early pickup from Nairobi (unless you chose to take the flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport, in which case you will already be there) you will head towards the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Your journey starts with a scenic drive of the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for stunning views.
On arrival in the Mara, you’ll be met by your guide and driven to your camp by 4×4 game drive vehicle, keeping a close eye out for animals along the way. Your guide will be happy to pause en route to watch them in their natural environment.
The day comes to an end with a delicious dinner and overnight rest at your chosen camp or lodge.
An early breakfast followed by a full day of game viewing in the Mara Reserve, taking a picnic lunch. During your morning drive, look out for buffalos, elephants, giraffes and hyenas as well as countless species of birds and small mammals. If you’re lucky you may even spot, cheetahs, leopards or wild dogs – your guide can show you how to recognise their tracks.
Return to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
Wake up at dawn and enjoy an early game drive in the conservancy to see the beauty of the Mara at sunrise. An afternoon game drive with an en route visit to the Maasai cultural village where you can see traditional dances and learn about their culture. You will be welcomed by traditional dances which you can join in.
The day comes to an end with a delicious dinner and overnight rest at your chosen camp or lodge.
A final short early morning game drive in the conservancy followed by breakfast and then leave camp to transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi or drive to Kisumu to start your next adventure… A volunteer experience?
