We are based in Oxfordshire, but work with tour companies throughout East Africa. If you are looking for an awe inspiring cultural holiday, safari, a relaxing holiday, an idyllic beach getaway or a village stay, then we can build the perfect trip for you.
Our style is relaxed seamless and at your own pace. Simple, safe, comfortable and unforgettable.
Occasionally we’ll have long travel days, be prepared because this is Africa and all part of the experience, but we try to keep these to a minimum and make them as fun and bearable as possible
We know and love Africa and want to share the beauty and amazing cultures and cuisine that makes Africa unforgettable, friendly and welcoming people. We offer you an authentic view into Africa
Our groups will usually be small to provide you with an intimate and authentic travel experience. Keeping numbers low ensures that the trips don’t feel too ‘tour’ like and allows us to get to know each other properly and make new friends in the villages and places we visit.
We will only work with leaders trained and understand our values and love Africa like we do. Nasio Trust staff and villagers when you visit the village and communities we support through our CSR. (Corporate Social Responsibility).
A real mix of ages, nationalities, backgrounds and personalities!
Most people come as couples or families but also solo travellers after a Kilimanjaro climb or friends joining the group. Everyone is welcome!
There is no upper age limit for the trips.
As long as you are adventurous, laid-back to embrace the African pace of life and in generally good health, you are never too old for adventure.
Most of the trips only need a moderate level of fitness.
But do be aware that travelling through Africa can be physically and mentally tough, with the heat, the bad roads, the crowds and the general chaos, so if you think any of those things may affect you physically or mentally, please feel free to discuss before you book.
We have tried to include down times in our itineraries but if there are any of the activities you don’t want to do, you don’t have to! The trips are designed to be pretty flexible, so if you decide you want a day off or you want to do something different or you want to stay in when others go out, that’s okay Its your holiday!
Travelling through Africa is all part of the adventure!
Flights, by road, private mini buses, taxis, safari vehicles or even trains.
But we also sometimes use public mini buses, boats and motor bikes, tuk-tuks depending on what’s available. Some travel modes are optional!
We believe and are passionate about working with and supporting great local tour companies, tour guides and activity providers to give you with the highly personalised Authentic African adventure.

No we are not ATOL protected, but we don’t have to be. We are a ground operator and do not provide flights so we do not need to hold an ATOL licence.
ATOL applies to companies selling air travel packages.
Ethical African Safaris is a member of Protected Trust Services.
In the unlikely event of us going out of business, Protected Trust Services provides you with complete protection against us and the suppliers we use as per the 1992 Package Travel Regulations. So you can be assured that your money is fully protected at all times.
Most of the accommodation (and cost) is based around shared twin rooms, however, if you want your own room we can arrange it.
If you are a couple, we will always secure your own room.
Specific room requests may come at an extra cost.
We always make sure the team leader is aware of any dietary requirements and it’s generally fine to avoid certain foods.
We expect all our travellers coming on any trip to Africa to have their own travel insurance.
If you get sick or injured whilst on the trip, many of the hospitals won’t treat you until they see that you either have the money to pay for your treatment or that you have the insurance to cover it.
We will ask you for your travel insurance details at the beginning of the trip and if you don’t have it you will not be able to join the trip.
Travel insurance doesn’t cost that much, so it’s better to be safe than sorry!
As part of your travel we will send you health travel advice details and guidance for the trip based on our extensive experience of travelling and living in Africa but always encourage you to speak to your travel nurse before the trip.
It depends on the trip! Some do and some don’t! And it can also depend on where you are coming from and what you’ve had before!
Feel free to ask about the individual trip you are interested in and we can advise on the country regulations, however we advise you to speak to a trained medical professional.
Contact us to check on the availability of the trip. We will then send you the information on how to join and pay your deposit for the tour.
We will send you your invoice/receipt and your pre-departure information and give you all the support you need to prepare for your trip.
Most people pay by bank transfer or by Paypal.
The money goes to a trust account as required by UK law. This keeps your money safe until your holiday is completed.
The balance is due 62 days prior to departure, except if you book later than 62 days from departure. In that case the full balance is required when booking.
As long as you have paid the balance 62 days before the start of the trip.
We will send you a packing list with the pre-departure information.
If you want to bring anything, bring clothes or pens and we will distribute them through our local team leaders.
